국가정보원은 조선일보에 항의한 적이 있는가?
北의 국가안전보위부를 국정원에 비유하다니.
언론의 북한관련 보도를 보면 수준 이하의 기사가 너무 많다. 기사를 작성하는 사람이 북한문제에 대해 제대로 된 개념이 부족하고, 기사가 보도되는 과정에서 체크 기능이 작동되지 않기 때문으로 보인다. 물론, 북한관련 기사는 사실관계를 확인하는 것부터가 쉽지는 않다. 그러나 개념이 잘못된 것은 심각한 문제다.
 
 예를 들면, 그래도 좀 나을 것같은 조선일보의 경우도, '국가안전보위부' 관련 기사에는 종종 '국가안전보위부'를 한국의 국가정보원에 비유한다. "국가안전보위부(한국의 국가정보원)...." 이라는 표현, 기술을 자주 본다. 오늘도 또 그러한 기사를 보았다. 말도 안 된다. 화가 난다. 평양의 '국가안전보위부'는 야만적 金氏王朝의 개인독재체제를 지탱하는 대표적인 폭압기관(비밀경찰)이다. '국가안전보위부'와 같은 존재는 공산독재체제, 전체주의체제, 反문명적인 체제에서만 존재한다. 국가정보원은 독재체제와는 전혀 무관한, '국가안전보위부'와는 도저히 비견될 수 없는 국가정보기관이다. 이렇게 개념없는 기사를 보면, 이 신문의 기자들의 思考 구조와 수준을 짐작할 수 있다.  
 
 조선일보 인터넷판은 영어, 중국어, 일본어로 발신되며 한반도문제에 관심이 있는 외국인들이나, 특히 한국어를 아는 많은 외국인들이 일상적으로 조선일보 기사를 본다. 이들에게 대한민국의 국가정보원이 북한의 '국가안전보위부'와 같은 존재라고 반복적으로 해설하면, 결국 남북한은 똑같이 폭압기관을 가지고 있다고 선전하는 격이다. 도대체 외국인에게 국가정보원과 대한민국의 체면과 이미지는 어떻게 되는가?   
 
 대한민국의 국가정보원을 평양의 '국가안전보위부'와 같은 기관으로 표현하는 사람들이 무지해서 그렇게 쓴 것인지, 정말 그렇게 생각해서 쓴 것인지는 모르겠지만, 잘못된 개념 하에 작성된 기사는 단순히 엉터리 기사라고 돌려 버리기에는 너무나 큰 해악을 끼친다.   
 
 그리고 국가정보원에 묻고 싶다. 국가정보원은 자신들을 한반도 역사상 가장 야만적인 김씨왕조의 독제체제를 지탱하는 폭압기관과 동격으로 표현하는 이러한 기사에 항의하고 시정를 요구한 적이 있는가? 이 문제는 국가정보원의 문제가 아니고, 국가정보원이 지켜야 할 가치에 관한 문제이다. 자신이 쳐부수어야 할 敵, 소멸시켜야 할 惡과 동일하게 취급 당하는 것을 참을 수 있는가? 국가정보원은 자존심을 가지기 바란다.
