유엔 주재 北대사관으로의 '탈북자 구출' 범국민 탄원서보내기 운동 전개된다

사단법인 북한인권시민연합(이사장 윤현)이 정치범수용소 수감 위기에 처한 탈북자들을 구출하기 위해 유엔 주재 북한대사관으로의 서신 보내기 운동을 전개하고 있다.
단체에 따르면 중국 단둥(丹東) 지역의 안전가옥에 숨어있던 탈북자 13명이 지난달 29일 중국 변방부대에 체포되었으며 그 중 5~6세의 어린이 3명만이 석방되고 나머지 10명은 3일 오후 강제북송되었다.
단체는 “알려지다시피 남한행을 감행하다가 북송된 탈북자들은 ‘조국반역자’로 몰려 한 번 들어가면 살아나오기 힘든 정치범수용소에 끌려갈 가능성이 매우 높다”며 “북한 땅을 탈출해 인간다운 삶을 꿈꾸던 이들의 소박한 꿈은 산산조각 나고 현재로서는 목숨을 부지하기도 어려운 상황에 놓여 있다”고 지적했다.
그러면서 “이들을 구출하기 위한 탄원편지글쓰기 캠페인을 전개하고 있다”고 밝힌 뒤 “우리의 작디작은 노력이 그들에게는 유일한 희망의 빛이 될 수도 있다”며 “모두의 작은 수고가 이들의 생명을 구할 것”이라고 강조했다.
단체는 영문으로 된 탄원서 내용을 단체 홈페이지(http://www.nkhumanrights.or.kr) 메인화면 긴급캠페인란에 공개하고 있다. 참가 희망자는 유엔 주재 북한대사관(주소 : H.E. Mr. Sin Son Ho, Ambassador. Office of the Permanent Mission of the DPRK to the UN. 820 Second Avenue, 13th Floor. New York, N.Y. 10017, U.S.A.)으로 탄원서를 보낼 수 있다.

Excellency,
I write to express my grave concern over a group of ten North Koreans who have been detained by your government. This group consisted of two middle aged men and eight women in their 20s and 30s. They have been repatriated from China on June 3, 2010 and it is said that they are detained on charges of crossing the DPRK-China border.
We urge you to use your position to release those persons on humanitarian grounds.
In addition, the DPRK is a State signatory to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and shall abide the Article 12 which says that everyone is free to leave his own country and choose a place of residence. The authorities of the DPRK should immediately release those people, proving to the international community that they are executing the international treaties not only in written forms, but also by action.
I would also appreciate any information you can provide regarding the group's location and well being.
