이제, 하나님의 선한 성품에 호소할 때!
백성들의 고통을 보고만 계실 수 없는 하나님께 가자

  이 급박한 시대에 우리는 남북한 문제를 가지고 힘써 기도하는 많은 크리스천 그룹들을 볼 수 있다. 그들과 함께 기도로 부르짖고 있으면 하나님을 향한 뜨거운 열정으로 당장이라도 북한의 김일성 우상주의가 타파되고 남한의 물질 우상주의가 척결되는 느낌을 받는다. 우리의 죄악을 회개하고 그리고 민족의 죄악을 회개하며 북한의 동포들에게 하나님의 위로함이 임하며 하나님이 주시는 안식(=평화)이 한반도에 있기를 부르짖어 기도한다. 우리가 이렇게 남북한을 위해서 부르짖는 이유는 이스라엘이 수없이 반역해도 그들을 버리지 않으시고 포기하지 않으시는 하나님을 성경을 통해서 알기 때문이다.


  사사기를 보면 이스라엘 백성들은 우상숭배로 인해 반복적으로 하나님 앞에서 범죄를 하는데, 그때마다 하나님은 (공의를 집행하기 위해) 그들을 이방인들의 손에 넘기거나 파셨다. 그러자 백성들은 압제의 困苦(곤고)로 인해(고통으로 인해) 하나님께 부르짖었고, 하나님은 사사를 세우셔서 이방인들의 손에서 백성들을 자유하게 하셨다. 그런데 이스라엘이 위기의 때에 부르짖기만 하면 하나님이 다 들어주시는 것은 아니었다.

 

옷니엘, 에훗, 드보라 때까지는 이스라엘의 부르짖음에 즉각적으로 응답하셨다. 기드온 때에 들어가면서 하나님의 반응이 달라지다가, 입다 때에 가서는 백성들이 압제의 고통으로 인해 부르짖자 하나님은 “내가 다시는 너희를 구원하여 주지 않을 것이니, 너희가 선택한 신들에게나 가서 부르짖어라. 너희가 괴로울 때에 그들에게 가서 구원하여 달라고 해라.”(삿10:13b-14)고 하시며 퇴짜를 놓으신다.

 

백성들은 도움 청하러 갈 데도 없기에 하나님 앞에 가서 우리가 잘못했다고 회개하였고 하나님이 적들을 제거해주셨다. 그러나 하나님께서 이스라엘 백성들을 구원하시는 이유는 그들이 회개한 데 있는 것이 아니라 “주님께서 이스라엘이 겪는 고통을 보고만 계실 수 없으셨”기 때문(삿10:16)이라는 것이다. 퇴짜를 놓으시고 다시는  구원하지 않겠다고 하시면서 뒷짐 지고 돌아서 있는 것 같으나, 하나님의 本心(본심)은 백성들의 고통을 헤아리시고 혼자 울고 계시는 그것이다.

 

우리는 회개를 하면 하나님께서 돌아보실 거라고 생각한다. 회개는 해야 하는 것이지만 회개를 한다고 하나님이 백성들을 돌아보시는 것은 아니다. 그리고 반복적인 회개운동이 하나님의 마음을 움직이는 것도 더더욱 아니다. 하나님이 자신의 백성을 돌아보고 형편을 헤아리시는 이유는 오직 그분의 善하신(좋으신) 성품 때문이다.


  구약의 이스라엘 백성들은 ‘하나님이 우리의 형편을 알고 헤아리시는 것이 제일 중요하다’고 생각했다. 민수기 6:24-26에서 제사장의 축도에도, “여호와는 네게 복을 주시고, 너를 지키시기를 원하며, / 여호와는 그의 얼굴을 네게 비추사 은혜 베푸시기를 원하며, / 여호와는 그 얼굴을 네게로 향하여 드사 평강 주시기를 원하노라 할지니라 하라”고 하면서 4가지로 축복하는데, 그 중에 ‘하나님의 얼굴’로 표현한 2가지가 ‘당신의 형편을 헤아려주기를 바란다’는 의미이다. 그래서 제사장이 백성들에게 해줄 수 있는 가장 큰 축복은 善하신(좋으신) 하나님이 당신의 형편을 헤아려주시길 원한다는 것이었다.


  우리는 하나님의 마음을 움직이기를 원한다. 하나님의 마음이 급격히 움직여서 남북한에 있는 어떤 障碍(장애)와 問題(문제)들도 뚫고 남북한 자유통일(自由統一)을 향한 하나님의 뜻이 이루어지는 것을 우리 눈으로 보기를 원한다. 그렇다면 우리는 이제 우리가 땅에서 일어나는 죄악의 회개와 장애의 돌파 이상의 하늘에 계신 하나님의 善한 성품에 호소하는 기도를 더해야 한다.

 

“남북한의 형편을 헤아려 주십시오!!”, “남북한이 겪는 고통을 보고만 있지 말아주십시오!!”

 

그분은 지금도 백성들의 고통을 보시고 울고 계시는 참으로 善한(좋은) 분이시다. 우리가 이 성품에 호소하는 기도를 할 때, 그분의 성품이 기도하는 백성들에게 흘러내려 하나님의 善한 의지를 소유하도록 하고 행동하게 할 것이다. 그리고 이 하나님의 善한 의지는 남북한 백성 모두의 良心(양심)을 깨우며 마침내 이 땅에 흩뿌려진 苦痛(고통)의 눈물을 씻어내고 喜樂(희락)의 샘이 터지게 할 것이다.
