[³ìÃë:Ä«µò ÀÇ¿ø] ¡°We understand and I encourage the direct conversation between North and South. We are for people to people. You can work within the sanctions to deal with those issues but you can¡¯t violate the sanctions themselves.¡±
[³ìÃë:Ä«µò ÀÇ¿ø] ¡°We are for that the communications have taken place. We will work with South on programs such as the industrial zone. That¡¯s something that we can work with as long as it¡¯s on with the understanding that the sanctions must be complied with.¡±
[³ìÃë:Ä«µò ÀÇ¿ø] ¡°We want to make sure that the sanctions are complied with. We want South Korea to comply with the sanctions. They have more at stake than any other countries. So, it¡¯s important that the pressure remain on North Korea because there is the only way they will in fact denuclearize the Korean peninsular so we want them press remain.
[³ìÃë:Ä«µò ÀÇ¿ø] ¡°We¡¯ve heard that that is the result of the Singapore summit. There have been international players that feel that they have an open season to do business with North Korea. That¡¯s not the case.¡±
[³ìÃë:Ä«µò ÀÇ¿ø] ¡°The sanctions should remain firm in place until North Korea delivers its own, eliminates its nuclear program. That¡¯s the reason those sanctions are there. And, we expect them to be complied with. Yes, it is disappointing if there is business being done contrary to the sanctions.¡±
[³ìÃë:Äコ ÀÇ¿ø] ¡°I think it¡¯s an important step forward that North Korea has release the remains of Americans who died in North Korean captivity during the war. And, that is a greatly appreciated gesture. I think that helps move us in a positive direction.¡±
[³ìÃë:Äコ ÀÇ¿ø] ¡°However, sanctions relief should come once verifiable and irreversible denuclearization by North Korea has made substantial progress, not before. And, at this point, we have no timeline, no menu, no agreed upon terms. It would be very premature for there to be any sanctions relief.¡±
